Joely Mae Greally’s practice is expansive consulting mediums such as installation, sound, photography, moving image, printmaking and performance as well as writing practices embodying fragmented and fictional romance rooted in truths. Her works attempt to be both fragmented, fabricated, natural and erotic and she uses opposition and polarity as a working tool.

There is a sensibility of emotional resonance within Greally’s practice which creates involved and intense encounters with her audience and works. Her practice is a response and resistance to the imbalance of power within a heteronormative threshold and her world of images, sounds and experience led practice yearn for a queered utopia as reality drawing influence from pop culture and the underground.

Joely also teaches and facilitates curated workshops and research sessions with her mobile community the Arts Culture Commune (formally, ‘It Came In A Dream’). With this initiative Joely has hosted curated events and micro-residencies for artists elevating femme, queer and working class practitioners.
